Team Up To Shape Up: Shake Up exercise challenge for youngsters

The new Public Health England initiative, in conjunction with Disney and Sport England, aims to get youngsters following their favourite Disney character in a 10-minute “shake up” exercise challenge.

Whether its star jumps, skipping, jumping or running, you can encourage your child to take part. Here’s a short video on some of the “Shake Ups” young people can do, or why not take part yourself?

Help children be active this summer with games inspired by Disney favouritesThe initiative comes as figures, from Public Health England, show fewer than a fifth of children get the recommended level of exercise by the time they leave primary school, data suggests.

Between the ages of five to seven and 11 to 12, there is a 39% drop in the proportion being moderately active for at least 60 minutes every day.

Aged five to seven, 28% are hitting the target, but this drops to 17% by ages 11 and 12 all across England.
